🌼 Día de los Muertos: A Celebration of Love and Memory
Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a Mexican tradition celebrated on November 1 and 2. It is a time to honour loved ones who have passed away, keeping their memory alive through love, stories and shared traditions.
Families create ofrendas (altars) decorated with photographs, marigolds, candles and their loved ones’ favourite foods—lovingly prepared to welcome their spirits home.
Bring a photo of someone you would like to remember and help us build our community altar. Our special guest, Sandy La Regia from Mexico, will guide us through the process, explaining the meaning behind the offerings and the traditions that make this celebration so special.
🌺 Join our Catrinas and Catrines contest! Come dressed for the occasion and celebrate Mexican creativity and tradition. A makeup artist will also be available for anyone who would like Catrina or Catrín makeup.
Everyone is welcome—whether you grew up with this tradition or are discovering it for the first time. Come to remember, connect and celebrate with us. 💛
Organised by Stichting Alma Latina Cultura y Comunidad, with the support of CultuurSchakel through Geld voor je Groei.
